The Brickfielder, a brand derived from the name of the swirling warm South Australian wind travelling from the north towards our coastal regions. Aiding in sugar development and veraison, these seasonal winds play a part in the reduction of disease pressure and maintaining the production of small yields of intense, high quality balanced fruit. One of the original land holders in the Barossa Valley in 1851, George was pivotal in promoting the region and encouraging further settlers to the district.
Since European settlement South Australia has been the favoured climate for densely packed, bright, super premium red wines. Three regions stand out, the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra and one wind dominates, the Brickfielder. Seasonal warm winds from the dry inland interior channel in from the north during vintage towards the coast, aiding in sugar development and veraison and reducing disease pressure. The result, small yields of intense, high quality balanced fruit recognised globally for its flavour profile. We have the Brickfielder to thank for that.
